šŸ’”Remember: This is your process, so the goal should be to enter your program and your sessions with a growth mindset and a willingness to commit to the experience.

Tips to Maximize Your Program:

  • Commit to your coaching - Stay consistent, be accountable.

  • Be fully present - Reduce distractions, have a clear mind, no multitasking.

  • Be open to what you're hearing - Remember, you chose this coach for a reason! Trust them and listen to what they say during your sessions.

  • Commit to openness and honesty - Your sessions are confidential, and anything you share about your work situation, challenges, struggles, and goals will stay between you and your coach.

Obtaining Feedback & Creating Goals:

You're encouraged to reflect on your development interests, encouraged to speak to your manager and others around you to get feedback on your current performance and behaviors, and then speak to your coach to help put it all together.

At SkillCycle, we try to make it easy for you to develop your goals by providing you with options to add goals directly on the platform. You may also have a 360 feedback process included in your program - take a look at your My Programs page and the Up Next section, to see if those options are available to you.

Preparing for a Coaching Session:

Our goal is to make each coaching session as productive as possible. Here are some things you can do to contribute to a great session.

Before the session:

  • Provide your coach with any information (24 hours) prior to the session that may impact you during the session.

  • Clear your mind, remove distractions

  • Arrange to be in a place conducive for coaching, ideally somewhere private, quiet, and confidential.

  • Avoid calling on a cell phone while driving.

  • Have a pencil/pen, smart device, etc. handy for notes.

šŸ§It is most important to be able to describe what success looks like to you, even if you donā€™t know HOW to get there. You arenā€™t expected to determine strategies and steps to take to accomplish your goals, however: thatā€™s what the coach is for!

Starting the session:

  • Make sure youā€™re ready at least five minutes prior to your scheduled session.

During the session:

  • Be present, which requires focus.

  • Approach the conversation with openness and honesty. Remember: Everything that is discussed in the session remains confidential between you and your coach, and your honesty and openness will help your coach guide you toward your goals.

  • Remember your coach is not a teacher, trainer, or therapist: They're a partner to help you build to your professional goals.

After the Session:

  • Finish writing any notes, using the platform. .Learn about notes + feedback here.

  • Make sure the next coaching session is on your calendar.

  • Schedule time to follow through on your goals.

  • Share your goals with others you trust.
